Join us for a day in the country at the 3rd annual "Fiber In The Park" festival to be held at Shabbona Park in Earlville, IL, featuring wool, mohair, alpaca and other natural fibers for spinners and crafters. There will be yarn, weaving, spinning, knitting, crocheting, and felting supplies for sale and demonstrations.

Spinning With Beads - Instructor: Karen Poulakos Time: 1 p.m. - 2:30 pm Location: At Karen's booth, Art of Spinning.
Add a unique touch to your handspun yarn with the addition of beads. In this class you will learn two techniques for creating fabulous beaded yarns at your spinning wheel. Students must be able to spin a consistent single at sport weight or finer. Students must bring a spinning wheel, 3 empty bobbins, lazy kate, niddy noddy (optional), and a small hand towel. Teacher will provide beads, fiber, a crochet hook, and a print handout.
Class size: minimum 5, maximum 12 Class fee: $30, includes materials.
Hand Painting Roving - Instructor: Cyndi Muller Time: Throughout the day, when Cyndi is available. No pre-registration is necessary. Location: At Cyndi's booth, Muller's Lane Farm.
Learn how to hand paint and use a microwave to dye 2 oz. of your choice of the following roving - Corriedale, Merino, Romney.
Class fee: $5.00 per 2 oz. piece of roving.
Beginning Spinning - Instructor: Carol Revzan Time: 10 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 3 pm. There will be a one hour break for lunch. Location: Small shelter near the restrooms on the north side of the park.
In this class, students will be introduced to the craft of spinning yarn on a spinning wheel. Each student will be given 8 oz. of roving to spin. The students will be shown how to spin a singles yarn in the morning and how to make a 2 ply yarn in the afternoon. Three wheels are available for loan, but if possible, students should bring a wheel (in good working condition) as well as a lazy kate and kniddy-noddy.

Learn the technique of Double Knitting. What is Double Knitting? It is working both sides of a project in one row while reading a chart for the design. A double thickness is knit. Materials needed: 2 colors of worsted weight yarn, needles size 9 and 7.

Weaving On A Mini Loom - Instructor Mike Behm Time: 1pm - 3 pm Location: Spring Beauty Farm Booth
Learn to weave a small pouch that can hold a cellphone, coins or other treasures. All materials will be provided. You will receive a loom and weaving needles that you can take home.
Class fee: $30 Beginning Yarn Painting with Household Dyes - Instructor: Samantha Schneider Time: 10:30 am Typical class time is 1.5 - 2 hours depending on class size. Location: At the small shelter near the restrooms at the north side of the park.
Students will learn the basics of hand painting yarn, including principles of working with acid dyes. Students should bring their favorite colors of sugar free Kool-aid (any sugar-free drink mix will work), food coloring and/or Easter egg dyes. Teacher will supply additional materials, including plastic wrap, gloves, vinegar, heating equipment, a microwave, and other misc. supplies and hand outs.
Class size: Minimum 3, maximum 8 Class fee: $35 Includes materials and one hank of yarn. Additional yarn may be available for $10 a hank if time permits. Learn to needle felt while having fun! We'll use wool and a special needle to form a 4" animal that will stand - and even shape. Then we'll use beautiful alpaca, Lincoln locks, and angora to breath life into our animals, making them completely realistic. Join us - we welcome anyone to come and learn a new, inspiring talent that is so easy and simple. Supplies include everything you need! Great for kids too.

Shabbona
Park is in La Salle Co. in North central Illinois about 13 miles north
of Ottawa, 65 miles south of Rockford, and 78 miles west of Chicago. If
you want to camp there for the weekend there's space for tents and RV's
but no hook ups. There are three shelters, restrooms with cold water, a
playground, and fishing ponds.
The location is shown on the map at the green arrow, north of Route 80 and east of Route 39.
Note: This park is NOT the Shabbona Lake State Park which is in DeKalb County.
